Five Months Old!!

My sweet little one, what a big month it has been for you!! Lots of changes and growth in January.

We are all seeing how big you have gotten!  You have a doctor's appointment in a few days but I'm expecting a big jump on the scale.  All of your six month clothes are tight now and you are wearing 9 month clothes.  You are still in a size 3 diaper.

You have learned so much this month! First you learned how to roll from belly to back and now are rolling from back to belly. This is how proud you were when I found you in your crib.  I had put you down to nap on your belly with your head facing the other direction!  As you can tell in your monthly pictures, you are trying so hard to sit up.  It's all you want to do.  When I bathe you, you sit up and just have the best time splashing and getting momma wet!

How you love to play! Throughout the day you have your different toys to play with.  Now that you can roll, you love being on the floor.  Just today, I put you down and went to get something, when I came back you had rolled about a foot from where I put you! You also love the Bumbo chair, your exersaucer, the highchair, and we even got out the jumparoo a few weeks ago.  Haven't I told you to stop growing up so fast?!?!

Another huge milestone this month was that you started to eat some baby food! We are only a few weeks into it but you seem to enjoy it.  So far you have tried: avocado (your first food), egg yolk, banana, sweet potato, butternut squash, apples, and peas. Sweet potato and butternut squash are your favorite by far.  Since we are just starting out, you are not consistently getting solids but usually do have dinner.  Mommy is loving making all your food.  Obviously, you are still nursing! I can't believe it, but you are already getting distracted while nursing and we usually have to go to your room so that you will eat well (this didn't happen for your brothers until they were much older).  You also hate to nurse under a cover when we are out, the designs on the fabric are too much fun to look at, ha!

I keep forget to mention how much you love the Ergo carrier.  I stopped using the K'Tan when you were less than 2 months old and we only use the Ergo now.  I love having it in the van for grocery shopping.  Thursdays are your favorite day of the week because Mommy carries you all day long while we are at CC.  You sleep so well in it!!

The biggest breakthrough this month has been sleeping.  Right after you turned 4 months old, mommy and daddy started to sleep train you.  I really did not want to have to make you cry it out at four months... but buddy, you were so tired.  Not napping well all day long was so hard on you.  By the end of the day you were just so grumpy.  Mommy and Daddy were grumpy as well since you pretty much cried all evening long. I wish I could have just trained you to nap in your crib, and still co-sleep with you at night but you are an "all or nothing" boy.  I can't believe how strong willed you are already.  You made sure that we knew that you did not what anything to do with sleeping in your crib.  It was a hard 3-4 days but we all made in through and are so much happier now.  You now go down awake and only fuss for a few minutes before you fall asleep.

I can finally say that you have a routine!! It is a miracle!

Between 7-8: Wake up/change/eat
8-9:30ish: play time while mommy does morning chores and eats
10-12ish: nap
12: wake up/change/eat
12-2:30ish: play time while brothers finish school.  They take turns playing with you to keep you happy
3-5 (hopefully): naptime
5:30: wake up/change/nurse and try some solid food at dinner.
6-7:30ish: playtime
7:30-8: bath, last nursing, bedtime.
Night time feedings vary but you are still waking 3 times (10pm, 12am, 2am)!! Some night are worse than others :-( Last night you only woke up once but then thought it was time to play at 5:30am.

My sweet precious boy, how we love you.  This past month, it was so amazing to see all your changes.  I have no idea what to expect in February.

Isaiah is Four Months Old

My little Drool Monster, you are another month older! I can hardly believe you are 4 months old and had your first Christmas.  December was a busy month of Christmas festivities including a trip to visit Grandma and Grandpa.

Where to start...You are getting bigger and bigger.  We just went to visit Dr. Hari and you weigh 15 pounds 4 ounces by her scale.  You are only wearing 6 month clothes and I am packing up all the three month ones to give away- more mommy tears. This month you grew even more than I expected and grew out of a box of size 2 diapers before we could even finish them.

The very end of November brought your first little virus.  The whole family came down with a mild cold virus that kind of stuck around for a few weeks. It was hardest on you since babies only want to breath through their nose.  Mommy and Daddy had a few sleepless nights with you but you never seemed to let it bother you too much and smiled through the whole thing.  Here is a picture of you after a hard night...still smiling ;-)

You are still one of the most playful babies!  I really don't remember your brothers loving toys as much as you do.  Your favorite place right now is in the highchair watching mommy work in the kitchen.  The "borg duck" is still your favorite guy. Santa brought you an Exersaucer and you are loving that as well.

You are still exclusively breastfeeding and we didn't even attempt a bottle this month.  You nurse on demand around every 3-4 hours still. Before this month, you mostly would only eat on one side per feeding but now I'm noticing that you need more and eat on both sides several times a day. I can't believe this, but when we hold you while we are eating and drinking, you actually grab our food!  You even took a sip of water from my glass.  I didn't want to but I think you will be trying food very soon. It seems like the more I tell you to stop growing up, the faster you try  ;-(

Sleep...oh sweet sleep...how I miss you! Just kidding... almost. It's not really a surprise to me that this is still a hard thing for us.  Right after you turned 3 months old, I attempted to gently sleep train you. I put your swing in your room and for nap and bed times I did everything I could to get you to fall asleep on your own.  I pulled out all the tricks- swaddling, a noise machine, diffusing lavender, and putting a lovie that smelled like me next to you.  I gave it a good try for three days but since I wasn't ready to let you cry it out, I failed.  The rest of the month was a battle.  Napping is the worst since you only catch a few cat naps on mommy's shoulder.  At night time, I usually have to go to bed much earlier than I want so that you can sleep next to me.  I still love co-sleeping and it is the best sleep you get all day.  Little one, Mommy and Daddy are getting super tired.

Your first Christmas was a lot of fun!  You were able to meet a lot of extended family and spend time with Grandma and PaPa.  The car trip to Florida went better than we expected as well.

My sweet little man! We love you so much.

Isaiah is three months old!

Our sweet little man, what another amazing month it has been.  November came along with your first Thanksgiving and family memories.

You continue to grow like a little weed. I have had to pack up your 0-3 month clothes, and I cried! The three month clothes fit good and you are wearing 6 month clothes in the above picture.  This was not a month that you had a doctor visit but by our home scale you weigh 15 pounds!! You are still in a size 2 diaper.

Along with growing you are learning new things everyday.  You LOVE toys but not any toy that you think might put you to sleep. Daddy had to change the swing so that you sit up more in it.  You are playing for more time under your play mat and we even got out the highchair so you can sit up and play with toys.  Your favorite toys right now are this crazy looking duck and a WeebleWobble man.

My sweet little man, you are a great eater!  I think we missed our opportunity to get you used to a bottle though.  Mommy and Daddy left you for the first time so that we could go out for Mommy's birthday and you totally refused to eat for the babysitter- it was not a good night for you little one.  I wish I could tell you how frequently you are eating but it changes from day to day.  I nurse you on demand A LOT.

Our continued battle is still sleep.  My little stinker, oh my how you love to fight sleep. During the day it feels like I spend all day working on rocking you to sleep.  Don't get me wrong, I love so much the time we have together rocking.  Right now, you love to be rocked pretty fast (I think you don't feel like I'm trying to get you to fall asleep) and for mommy to sing to you.  I usually make it through all of my songs (Jesus Loves Me, Jesus Loves the Little Children, You are My Sunshine, and Arky Arky) before you fall asleep on my shoulder.  Unfortunately, you usually just wake up when I transfer you to your crib.  At night time, you are still co-sleeping so that mommy can get some sleep. I love to snuggle you at night.

We love you sweet little one and can't wait to see what December will bring.

Two Months

This month has just flown by.  The month of October brought about lots of changes in our sweet little boy.  Isaiah is smiling and cooing and we are enjoying him so much.

*As you can see in the above picture, you have gotten to be a sweet little chunk of a boy.  At your 2 month check up your weight is 12 pounds 8 ounces. You got your first shot and handled it great.

*You are wear a size two diaper.  Size 3 month clothes fit perfect and you can wear 6 month clothes!

*Isaiah you obviously love to eat!  You got your first bottle this month and Dad said you didn't love it but finished it.  You nurse around every four hours during the day and wake up at least two times a night to eat.

*Unfortunately, you love to fight sleep.  We haven't gotten into a good schedule yet with naps and you tend to wake up when I transfer you to your crib.  The evening is the worst, when you want mom and dad to walk you around until you fall asleep.

*At this point you are still co-sleeping.

*Isaiah, you still don't take a paci and aren't attached to a lovie.  You have fallen in love with the Ergo carrier.

We loved watching you enjoy your first Halloween.

We can't wait to see what November brings sweet baby!

Isaiah is one month old!

I know that I say this all the time but I just can't believe how quickly this first month with Isaiah, and as a family of 6 has flown by!

As I have done with Jonah and Micah, I will do monthly updates and pictures so that I can remember all of this wonderful year with Isaiah.

* Isaiah you are such a joy already! The whole family, especially your big brothers, are just enamored with you. Caleb, Jonah, and Micah all beg to hold you all the time but I have a hard time sharing your snuggles.

* Since you are only a month old, you still spend most of your time sleeping.  When you were first born, you liked sleeping in your swing or bouncy seat.  More recently, you fall asleep in the K'Tan and then Mommy can transfer you to your crib.  At night, you sleep in the bed with Mommy, just like your brothers before you.  You can sleep for 3 hour stretches during the day and at night will give me 4-5 hours.

* We call you lots of little nicknames but most this month is Grunty McGrunterson.

* At your one month check up you weighed 10 pounds 6 ounces.

* When you are awake you pretty much only want to be held.  I can tell that you are getting to where you will start "playing" soon, but until then, the K'Tan is Mommy's best friend.

* You are a great eater.  You love to nurse and are now eating around every 3 hours during the day.  You are my first baby to only eat on one side per feeding.  You very rarely spit up.  We have not given you a bottle yet but I am pumping so that we can try soon.

* You have never liked a paci but I am trying to get you attached to a "lovie" now.

Here are your first month pictures.  The bear beside you is "Cole", the Build a Bear that your bothers got for you.  I will take your picture every month so we can watch you grow.
